What happened on Sunday

1. We sang happy birthday to Peggy to wish her a happy birthday for last Friday.
2. We reminded everyone of the quilting enrichment activity on this Thursday evening at the chapel, 7 pm.
3. Ev is looking for tulle and white fairy lights for August if anyone can help her.
4. The fireside for Young Marrieds will be held at the Stake Centre next Sunday at pm.
5. Rachael spoke to the sisters about the open house that will happen in September at the chapel. Any sisters who are happy to 'man' the Relief Society room for an hour or two please see Rachael. The room will be full of displays regarding Relief Society over the years in our Ward.
6. Sister Diana shared with us information regarding Evan Stephens who wrote and/or composed 18 of the hymns in our hymn book, including In Remembrance of thy Suffering, Today While the Sun Shines, Let Us All Press On and True to the Faith.
7. Piret lead us with the lesson today entitled "Gifts of the Spirit". We talked about having to have faith to receive gifts of the Spirit. We also talked about Joseph Smith receiving a gift from the Lord to be able to translate the Book of Mormon and in the manual a story is recounted by David Whitmer about how Joseph
Smith learned that the divine gift was with him only when he was worthy to be guided by the Spirit. (That story is on page 116 if you would like to read it).
